Team members needed at Eutopia

Laura our lovely chef is leaving town in October so we are now on a mission to find 2 new cooks and 2 baristas for the summer season. Since Kaiwaka is such a small town we need to start looking now. Because the cafe is open 7 days, and over summer would be good to open from 7am -6pm we'll need at least 2 shifts. Kaiwaka is a great place to work and save money so anyone out there experienced and keen email raewyn

Thursday

Although the sun was shining today, it was pretty cold and our gas heater is still not working!
Visitors sat in front of the new window hoping the su might warm them! They did say the coffee was really great though!
Karen made our new ginger slice again, this time with some brazil nuts as well as almonds in the base. It is very addicitive and I am sorely tempted every day.
Peter is more interested in the smashies we have added to the menu. I am still working on the ingredients. but the main components are boiled potatoes which are broken into small pieces and then fried in a frying pan with marinated tofu or bacon, depending on ones eating habits, served on a bed of greens with mayo and tomato sauce.
We have also started serving the vegan chocolate cake with hot plums and icecream as a treat for cold days. It has proved a popular treat.
Its been so cold that I feel the need for treats a lot myself!

Last day of school holidays

Today was the last day of holidays for school kids in NZ so I expect the cafe will return to being pretty quiet during the week. Sita has been making lovely jewellry during the week.
Peter is busy on 2 fronts: he has completed printing and binding the second 200 of Rosie Boom's book for Christian Parents "The Gift of Values" which has been enthusiastically welcomed by homeschooling families, and we have sold 2 in 2 weeks at the cafe.
